Why go through all the trouble of making a website if I’m just trying to find an apartment in Tel Aviv? There’s nothing wrong with Homeless, Madas, Yad2, Zeh V’Zeh, Craigslist or any of the other sites. In fact, I found my current Tel Aviv apartment on Madas and my previous Jerusalem apartment on Homeless.
But it’s well known that the majority of available apartments in Tel Aviv don’t even get listed on those sites – they’re rented out to people who know people, or at least to people who know people who know people.
Most things in Israel work this way. I am an immigrant and it means that immigrants like me are at a severe disadvantage, because I know far fewer people than the average Israeli, and because the people I do know also know far fewer people, and because they’re also much less likely to have Tel Aviv apartments for rent.
I made this website to spread the word far and wide: I am looking for a new apartment in Tel Aviv, and I want your help. I’m offering a finder’s fee for an apartment that I rent.
Maybe I know you and maybe I don’t. Either way, you can help me out by letting me know of any available Tel Aviv apartments or posting this to your Twitter or Facebook status.
If you know of an apartment, you can fill out the form below with the information, or contact me on Twitter or Facebook. Thanks!!
